NSEA’s Students for Salmon Program (SFS) transforms fourth-graders into stream scientists to investigate the health of salmon habitat in their watershed and participate in a restoration project. This program is offered at no cost to participating schools. In Winter/Spring 2022, SCED 480/490 students worked with NSEA to revise the Students for Salmon Curriculum. They piloted the redesigned materials in partnership with local area teachers, strengthening the alignment to the Next Generation Science Standards and to promoting equitable science instruction that meets the needs of all students. The revised curriculum made its debut at the 2022 Washington Science Teaching Association (WSTA) conference, and is now available online for teachers throughout the state to use!
