The purpose of this scholarship is to reduce or eliminate anti-Black racism in STEM through productive relationships with and among Black and African American communities in the United States. The scholarship aims to support the success of students working toward this goal. The scholarship is named after Alma Clark Glass, who studied biology at WWU in 1906. Alma was the first Black person to enroll at WWU.

  • The purpose of this Fund is to provide $4,000 in summer support for an undergraduate student within the College of Science and Engineering.
  • Preference to be made to applicants who demonstrate outstanding academic merit, and demonstrate financial need.
  • For an undergraduate majoring in a CSE program.
  • Based on overall merit, and where applicable, demonstrated financial need.
  • Research must be supervised by an appropriate faculty mentor.
  • Each department and program may nominate one student.

  • awarded by the Dean of the Graduate School to students of superior ability admitted to a Master's degree program.

Amount: tuition & fees plus $1,000 per year

  • For undergraduates who are custodial single parents with dependent children.
  • Must be majoring in a STEM* field.
  • Must have demonstrated financial need via the FAFSA.
  • Must be in good academic standing, making progress towards a degree and have a minimum GPA of 2.0.

  • In order to keep the grant from being converted into a Direct Unsubsidized Loan, must fulfill the Agreement to Serve after graduating by teaching:
    • in a high-need field;
    • at an elementary school, secondary school, or educational service agency that serves students from low-income families; and
    • for at least four complete academic years within eight years after completing (or ceasing enrollment in) the course of study for which you received the grant.

•    A major in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM)-related field with applications to space/aerospace science or engineering, and/or:
